CVBL: Portland Handles Golden State 92-76
Portland showed their mettle today with a convincing 92-76 win over Golden State. "After some of the games we've had, I think we've left some doubt as to whether we can solidly beat anybody," said head coach Bob after the game. "I don't know that one game will erase those doubts, but I can certainly see the difference in the locker room."
The win came largely as the result of a great effort by Elliott, the Portland star. Said Bob of him, "The game would have gone down to the wire without Elliott's efforts today. He really made the difference between another tough battle and a dominating win."
Portland was led by Elliott (11 points, 8 assists, 3 steals, a block), Shealey (18 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, a block), Blackwell (18 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block). Golden State was led by Lynn (10 points, 12 boards, 4 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Salas (18 points, 2 assists, a block), Hill (10 points, 10 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
With today's win, Portland stand at 11-5 and 6-1 at home. They move up to #1 in the Northwest and improve to #3 overall in the Western Conference. With this defeat, Golden State are now 2-14. They move down to #5 in the Pacific and move down to #15 overall in the Western Conference.
