CVBL: LA Clippers Downs Miami

A great game by Newton led LA Clippers to a 105-84 defeat of Miami. Although Miami certainly planned for Newton in their pre-game strategy, stopping him during the game turned out to be more of a challenge. "We thought we knew how to beat LA Clippers, but we were dead wrong," said Miami coach Bob. "We figured we'd try to put them out of their game plan and try to limit Newton's effectiveness, but it simply didn't happen - he was just too good."

Said Newton, "I knew I had a target on my back, and took it as a challenge. If they're going to change their game plan to stop me, it gives me that much more desire to step up and perservere. Anyway, they know what I can do now, so we'll see if they dare try this strategy again." Tune in next time.

LA Clippers was led by Newton (9 points, 17 assists, 4 steals, a block), Edmonds (12 points, 22 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Jenkins (25 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block). Miami was led by Banks (10 points, 4 steals), Durham (22 points, 5 boards, 0 assists), Hargrove (14 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks).

With the win, LA Clippers stand at 9-6 and 3-1 at home. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and stay at #7 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Miami fall to 8-10. They drop to #4 in the Southeast and fall to #10 overall in the Eastern Conference.
