CVBL: Phoenix Surprises New Orleans
Phoenix came out solid today, defying the predictions and notching the 99-89 upset of New Orleans. "Somebody forgot to tell them they were underdogs," quipped New Orleans coach Bob after the game. "No question, they were the better team out there today and deserved this win. I thought we came in prepared, but that was just a lot better than we've seen Phoenix play for some time."
Credit has to be given to Phoenix coach Bob, who brought his team together after some tough losses earlier and has them playing at their best. "Some of the us really took those losses hard," said star Jeanlouis. "But coach sat us down and showed us what we were doing wrong and what we needed to do to turn around. That was great to hear, and you saw the results today."
Phoenix was led by Jeanlouis (19 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Calloway (20 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals), Wilson (12 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks). New Orleans was led by Phelan (23 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Mitchell (11 points, 13 boards, 1 assists), Johnson (14 points, 1 assists, a steal).
With the win, Phoenix are now 6-11 and 2-6 at home. They stay at #4 in the Pacific and stay at #13 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans drop to 10-7. They stay at #3 in the Southwest and fall to #7 overall in the Western Conference.
