CVBL: Denver Over Brooklyn
A solid outing by Moore led Denver to a 101-94 win over Brooklyn. "Take away Moore, and we'd have won this thing," said Brooklyn coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Denver over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Denver coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Moore do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Moore will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Denver was led by Moore (15 points, 16 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals, a block), Strong (26 points, 1 assists, a block), Davis (17 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a block). Brooklyn was led by Duncan (17 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Green (23 points), Hazan (8 points, a steal).
With the win, Denver improve to 13-5 and 8-0 at home. They remain at #1 in the Northwest and move up to #2 overall in the Western Conference. Brooklyn stand at 11-7. They stay at #2 in the Atlantic and fall to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference.
