CVBL: Sacramento Pulls out the Win over Washington
Sacramento overcame a great game by Garrett, beating Washington 100-99. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Bob. "If we had another couple players like Garrett out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Bob has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Garrett) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Garrett was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Sacramento was led by Heath (18 points, 5 boards, 14 assists, 2 steals), Boone (25 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Reeve (24 points, 0 assists, a block). Washington was led by Garrett (17 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), White (19 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Butler (8 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block).
With this win, Sacramento are now 10-8 and 6-2 at home. They remain at #3 in the Pacific and advance to #7 overall in the Western Conference. Washington fall to 7-10. They fall to #5 in the Southeast and fall to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
