CVBL: Detroit Wins Over Miami 109-97
Detroit brushed past an overmatched Miami team today 109-97. Always politically correct, Detroit coach David Smith stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Kay's effort helped set the pace. Miami is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
Miami coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Detroit, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Detroit was led by Kay (34 points), Henderson (17 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Price (8 points, 3 steals). Miami was led by Jackson (25 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Jasper (22 points, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Frost (15 points, 12 boards, 0 assists).
Detroit improve to 15-3 and 8-3 at home with the win. They remain at #1 in the Central and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. Miami drop to 8-10 with this loss. They hold at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #7 overall in the Eastern Conference.
