CVBL: Detroit Wins Big
Detroit brushed past an overmatched San Antonio team today 99-80. Always politically correct, Detroit coach David Smith stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Day's effort helped set the pace. San Antonio is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
San Antonio coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Detroit, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Detroit was led by Day (34 points, 6 boards, 1 assists), Wood (16 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, a block), Reynolds (10 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks). San Antonio was led by Lanham (14 points, 0 assists, 2 steals, a block), Fleming (14 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Feaster (10 points, 8 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
Detroit stand at 11-5. They hold at #2 in the Central and stay at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. San Antonio are now 10-7 and 7-4 at home. They hold at #2 in the Southwest and move down to #6 overall in the Western Conference.
