CVBL: Sacramento Defeats Denver 96-92
Sacramento beat Denver today, 96-92. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving Denver players and coach Bob after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, Denver players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by Bob's questionable calls late in the game. Denver star Hamilton was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Sacramento players were a bit less exciting, with Crandell giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach Bob and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Sacramento was led by Crandell (21 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Christie (15 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Weaver (8 points, 8 boards, 9 assists, 3 steals). Denver was led by Hamilton (14 points, 15 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Ortiz (5 points, 10 assists, 2 steals), Upshur (16 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal).
Sacramento jump to 15-4 and 10-1 at home. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference. Denver ended their tear at 5 games, and drop to 13-6. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference.
