CVBL: Oklahoma Cty Beats Odds and Houston
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Oklahoma Cty upset the favored Houston 95-93. Frazier had a huge game for Oklahoma Cty, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by Houston star James in a game that could have post-season implications.
Houston apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped Oklahoma Cty coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." Houston coach Bob was apologetic to Houston fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
Oklahoma Cty was led by Frazier (20 points, 14 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Pollard (23 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, a block), Sheppard (6 points, 11 assists, 5 steals). Houston was led by James (12 points, 17 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Howard (24 points, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Roberson (9 points, 6 assists, a steal).
Oklahoma Cty improve to 10-8 after the victory. They remain at #3 in the Northwest and advance to #7 overall in the Western Conference. After this defeat, Houston fall to 12-6 and 7-2 at home. They stay at #1 in the Southwest and stay at #3 overall in the Western Conference.
