CVBL: Minnesota Needs Overtime To Down Chicago

Chicago nearly pulled off the upset, but were beaten by Minnesota 111-105 in overtime. Although most expected an easy Minnesota win, Chicago came out strong and at times looked like they would pull off the surprise. But the magic didn't last forever, and the better team prevailed in the end. Said Minnesota coach Bob, "I've got to give [Chicago coach] Bob credit for getting his team ready to play today. They could have easily given up given the long odds, but they played great and forced us to play our best to finish with the win."

Bob had mixed feelings afterwards. "On the one hand, I'm thrilled that we were able to be competitive against a great team like Minnesota. On the other, it's tough to lose after being so close."

Minnesota was led by Smith (36 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block), Daniels (16 points, 18 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Smith (8 points, 3 steals). Chicago was led by Johnson (22 points, 25 boards, 0 assists), Sims (26 points, 7 boards, 0 assists), Campbell (5 points, a steal, a block).

With this win, Minnesota jump to 13-6. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #6 overall in the Western Conference. With the defeat, Chicago fall to 6-12 and 3-2 at home. They stay at #4 in the Central and drop to #11 overall in the Eastern Conference.
