CVBL: Detroit Puts on a Demonstration
Golden State players could only shake their heads in amazement after being blown out by Detroit, 113-87. In addition to a great game by Graham, coach David Smith had his team prepared perfectly and appeared to be reading the mind of Golden State coach Perez Suarez. Whatever Perez Suarez tried failed miserably, and the end result was a blowout that will stick in the minds of both sides until they meet again. After the game, Perez Suarez said as much: "No doubt they were the better team today. But this won't be the last time we meet, and our players certainly don't like the way David Smith ran up the score on us."
Detroit was led by Graham (25 points, 3 blocks), Henderson (6 points, 24 boards, 0 assists, a block), Kay (20 points, 1 assists). Golden State was led by Chapman (6 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Lewis (5 points, 5 assists, a steal, a block), Whitley (16 points, a block).
