CVBL: Sacramento Handles Atlanta 113-94
In one of the most important games of the season for both teams, Sacramento upstaged Atlanta 113-94. Showing more glitter than a Brittany Spears concert, perfect Sacramento execution, a brilliant game by Gilliam, and impeccable play-calling by Bob provided all the right ingredients for a big win.
Buzzo was key for Atlanta, but after the game he looked like somebody had just run over his dog. "I thought we could do it. The whole game I was still thinking we were going to win. I guess that's the difference between thinking it and doing it. Give Sacramento credit - they are nothing but class. I just feel sorry for coach Bob. He had us ready and we let him down."
Sacramento was led by Gilliam (27 points, 2 assists, a block), Brown (10 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Sherrill (13 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block). Atlanta was led by Buzzo (9 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Worrel (13 points, 1 assists, 2 steals, a block), Souza (16 points).
With the win, Sacramento jump to 20-5 and 11-2 at home. They hold at #1 in the Pacific and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Atlanta are now 14-11. They stay at #1 in the Southeast and hold at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference.
