CVBL: Phoenix Surprises Philadelphia 119-113

A walk in the park for Philadelphia turned into a nightmare, as Phoenix pulled off the upset in today's showdown. As usual after a surprise loss, the finger pointing came after the game in the Philadelphia locker room. "Coach didn't really bother preparing us for this game. We'd already been watching films of our next opponent," said Flournoy.

Bob acknowledged that was true, but said "our next opponent is three times as good as Phoenix. Of course we dedicate more time to preparing for them. I'm not faulting Flournoy, but if the rest of the team had played as hard we'd have won this game easily. It was a lack of effort, not preparation."

Phoenix coach Bob could care less whose fault it was. "We're thrilled to get the win. They can make all the excuses they want, but we were the better team out there today."

Phoenix was led by Jeanlouis (17 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Miller (19 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, a steal, a block), Hollander (13 points, 2 steals). Philadelphia was led by Flournoy (23 points, 11 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Joseph (21 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks), Parker (22 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks).

With the win, Phoenix stand at 11-14 and 7-8 at home. They hold at #3 in the Pacific and advance to #9 overall in the Western Conference. After this loss, Philadelphia are now 18-10. They hold at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
