CVBL: Detroit Tops LA Clippers
The fans got what they came out for, as Detroit won a seesaw 100-90 victory over LA Clippers. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Detroit star Wood. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
LA Clippers coach Adnan Bislimovic was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Wood and [LA Clippers star] Newton really put on a show for the fans."
Detroit was led by Wood (7 points, 22 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Henderson (25 points), Singleton (14 points, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks). LA Clippers was led by Newton (12 points, 12 assists, a steal), Edmonds (19 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a block), Jenkins (8 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block).
After today's victory, Detroit stand at 20-7 and 12-1 at home. They stay at #1 in the Central and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. LA Clippers are now 15-10 with today's defeat. They stay at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #4 overall in the Western Conference.
