CVBL: Brooklyn Defeats Utah 86-81
Owens made 43 points, leading Brooklyn to a seesaw 86-81 victory over Utah. "What a great game to have been a part of," said Brooklyn star Owens. "The momentum kept changing and neither team really had a chance to run away with the game. It just came down to having more in the tank at the end, and that was us."
Utah coach Coach Young was less enthusiastic about the game. "We had our chances to win the game, but didn't convert them. I'm most bothered that it seemed like we faded down the stretch; I think we may need to spend a little more time working on conditioning in the future. Regardless, it was a great game. Owens and [Utah star] Williams really put on a show for the fans."
Brooklyn was led by Owens (43 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks), Jeanlouis (15 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Hargrove (7 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 2 steals, a block). Utah was led by Williams (16 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Brown (16 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 4 blocks), Edmonds (10 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks).
With this victory, Brooklyn improve to 17-9 and 11-3 at home. They stay at #1 in the Atlantic and remain at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Utah drop to 10-19 after this loss. They stay at #4 in the Northwest and remain at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
