CVBL: Philadelphia Pulls out the Win over Portland
Jakes led Philadelphia to victory today over Portland in a 105-98 game. "It was a tough one to lose," said losing coach Bob. "I thought we had a great chance going in, and even now I think we'd have a great chance in a rematch. But Jakes made the difference for his team, and we really didn't have an answer today."
Philadelphia coach Bob was equally admiring of his star. "Portland were very well prepared for this game, and our boys weren't really ready for what they faced out there. I like to believe that we'd play a better all-around game when we play them again, but we'll be happy riding Jakes and getting the win today."
Philadelphia was led by Jakes (13 points, 15 assists, 2 steals), Flournoy (28 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a block), Joseph (17 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, a block). Portland was led by Chapple (23 points, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Ortega (18 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, a block), King (7 points, 8 assists, 2 steals).
After today's victory, Philadelphia improve to 19-11 and 12-3 at home. They remain at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference. Portland stand at 11-16. They hold at #4 in the Northwest and stay at #11 overall in the Western Conference.
