CVBL: Memphis Blows Past LA Lakers 118-84

A rock-solid Memphis team routed LA Lakers, 118-84. "It sure felt good out there," said today's star, Jensen. "We basically accomplished what we wanted to do on offense and defense. Coach's game plan worked perfectly."

LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle was disappointed with the game, but not completely surprised. "Memphis is a great team, and we knew going in that if they played their best we didn't stand a chance. The only way we were going to win was if we got some breaks, and we didn't. But it was a great learning experience; they showed us our weaknesses."

Memphis was led by Jensen (25 points, 2 assists, 3 steals), Murray (20 points, 10 boards, 0 assists, 3 blocks), Washington (18 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 4 blocks). LA Lakers was led by Crandell (17 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Burdette (18 points, 6 boards, 0 assists), Gavagan (8 points, 9 boards, 1 assists).

Memphis stand at 17-10 and 11-3 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and remain at #3 overall in the Western Conference. LA Lakers drop to 7-19. They hold at #5 in the Pacific and hold at #14 overall in the Western Conference.
