CVBL: Minnesota Express Steamrolls Denver 100-98
Minnesota squeezed out a win today against Denver, 100-98. Both teams came out of the gates strong but a late game push by Minnesota was just enough to hold off Denver. Coach Bob said, "This game is really a sign of things to come. We come out and play hard every night. Things are looking up, and the fans of Minnesota have a lot to look forward to after this victory."
In the Denver locker room after the game, players were in a somber mood. Even after the great team performance led by Davis, they still come up short. "We deserved to win. That was our game - we just need to be able to put our opposition away when we have them down. We really were the better team." said Davis after the game.
Minnesota was led by Daniels (7 points, 20 boards, 3 assists, 4 blocks), Smith (31 points), Dirks (18 points, 5 boards, 5 assists, a block). Denver was led by Davis (24 points, 14 boards, 0 assists, a block), Wise (7 points, 16 assists, 3 steals, a block), White (16 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 3 blocks).
Minnesota jump to 17-10. They hold at #2 in the Northwest and stay at #6 overall in the Western Conference. With this loss, Denver stand at 14-15 and 10-6 at home. They stay at #5 in the Northwest and remain at #10 overall in the Western Conference.
