CVBL: Portland Steals Spotlight from Sacramento
Portland brushed past an overmatched Sacramento team today 115-94. Always politically correct, Portland coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Hume's effort helped set the pace. Sacramento is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
Sacramento coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Portland, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Portland was led by Hume (15 points, 2 steals), King (18 points, a steal, a block), Williams (18 points, a steal). Sacramento was led by Westbrook (32 points, 0 assists, a block), Coleman (16 points, 2 blocks), Lake (10 points, a steal, a block).
Portland stand at 17-12 and 12-3 at home with this win. They hold at #2 in the Northwest and hold at #5 overall in the Western Conference. After this defeat, Sacramento drop to 11-18. They hold at #2 in the Pacific and remain at #10 overall in the Western Conference.
