CVBL: Atlanta Beats Chicago
Atlanta downed Chicago today 121-115, thanks to a solid effort by star Jackson. The game lived up to its hype, with both teams having their moments but neither side able to dominate for any extended length of time. Said Jackson after the game, "This one could have easily gone either way. We're just glad that we came out with the win." Coach Bob echoed the sentiments, saying "Chicago came out strong and ready to play, and we knew from the start that it would be a battle out there. Probably if we played them 10 times, both sides would get five wins. But we got the win today, and that's what counts."
Chicago players were disappointed after the game, and coach Bob had his hands full keeping their spirits up. "They know they played their hearts out today, and that it wasn't enough. That's a tough feeling. Especially for Johnson, who had one heck of a game but couldn't carry the whole team on his shoulders."
Atlanta was led by Jackson (17 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Simon (27 points, a steal), Calloway (6 points, a steal, 2 blocks). Chicago was led by Johnson (14 points, 17 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Smith (27 points, 3 assists, 3 blocks), Cobbs (23 points, a block).
Atlanta stand at 16-13. They stay at #1 in the Southeast and remain at #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. After this loss, Chicago fall to 10-19 and 6-7 at home. They stay at #4 in the Central and remain at #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
