CVBL: 119-105 Denver
Denver brushed past an overmatched New Orleans team today 119-105. Always politically correct, Denver coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Davidson's effort helped set the pace. New Orleans is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
New Orleans coach Bob was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Denver, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Denver was led by Davidson (8 points, 6 boards, 20 assists, 3 steals), Simmons (19 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Stanford (12 points, 13 boards, 1 assists, a steal). New Orleans was led by Fletcher (22 points, 16 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Howie (26 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals, a block), Taylor (8 points, 7 assists, a steal, a block).
With today's victory, Denver are now 21-10. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and remain at #2 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans drop to 16-13 and 8-6 at home. They hold at #3 in the Southwest and remain at #6 overall in the Western Conference.
