CVBL: Boston Pulls Out Upset in Overtime
Memphis had its chances, but the favorites couldn't put away Boston and ended up losing 122-118 in overtime. "We'll just thank our lucky stars," said Boston coach Bob. "They've got the better team, and no doubt they'll win four out of five times that we play them. They had scoring chances all day long, but something or another would happen and they wouldn't convert. And we got our lucky breaks and did convert. Still, nobody in the locker room is under any delusions of grandeur, even Davis. We won't get lucky like that very often, and everyone knows it."
Boston was led by Davis (6 points, 17 assists, 5 steals), Williams (16 points, 15 boards, 4 assists, a block), Flake (21 points, 2 assists, 2 steals). Memphis was led by Whitfield (30 points, 19 boards, 2 assists, a block), Dimascio (23 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Manly (21 points, a block).
Boston stand at 8-23 after today's victory. They stay at #5 in the Atlantic and hold at #15 overall in the Eastern Conference. Memphis are now 21-8 and 13-4 at home. They remain at #1 in the Southwest and remain at #1 overall in the Western Conference.
