CVBL: Utah Beats New Orleans 95-86
Utah beat New Orleans today, 95-86. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving New Orleans players and coach Bob after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, New Orleans players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by Bob's questionable calls late in the game. New Orleans star Jones was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Utah players were a bit less exciting, with Feaster giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach Bob and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Utah was led by Feaster (20 points, 26 boards, 0 assists, 4 blocks), Patton (28 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 3 blocks), Smiley (15 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). New Orleans was led by Jones (45 points, 5 blocks), Haines (9 points, 17 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Williams (18 points, a steal, 3 blocks).
Utah jump to 19-12 with today's victory. They stay at #3 in the Northwest and remain at #6 overall in the Western Conference. New Orleans are now 10-19 and 6-7 at home. They hold at #4 in the Southwest and fall to #12 overall in the Western Conference.
