CVBL: Denver Gets Solid 96-81 Win
Everything clicked for Denver today, as they soundly beat Houston 96-81. Houston looked beaten for most of the afternoon, and the final outcome was in little doubt. "I thought we came out ready to play, but we were just overmatched," said Houston coach Bob. "It's kind of demoralizing to lose that way, knowing that you played your best and it wasn't nearly enough." Bob now has the unenviable task of getting his team ready to face another day.
Denver coach Bob couldn't be happier, though. His game plan was executed perfectly, and his players were able to dominate all aspects of the game. "It's great to get a win like this, when everything went according to plan."
Denver was led by Simmons (22 points, 15 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Davidson (6 points, 12 assists, a steal), Hayes (10 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, a block). Houston was led by Jackson (16 points, 6 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Espinoza (16 points, 9 boards, 1 assists), James (12 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks).
Denver jump to 23-10 and 14-5 at home. They stay at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. With this defeat, Houston are now 13-17. They fall to #5 in the Southwest and move down to #8 overall in the Western Conference.
