CVBL: Atlanta Pulls out the Win over Cleveland
A solid outing by Conner led Atlanta to a 100-93 win over Cleveland. "Take away Conner, and we'd have won this thing," said Cleveland coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Atlanta over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Atlanta coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Conner do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Conner will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Atlanta was led by Conner (9 points, 9 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, 4 blocks), Baker (18 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks), Wade (12 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 6 blocks). Cleveland was led by Smith (25 points, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks), Patrick (26 points, 2 assists, 5 blocks), Bravo (12 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks).
Atlanta halted their slump at 5 games, and jump to 13-18. They hold at #4 in the Southeast and stay at #11 overall in the Eastern Conference. After this loss, Cleveland are now 15-16 and 11-7 at home. They remain at #5 in the Central and stay at #10 overall in the Eastern Conference.
