CVBL: Portland Beats Oklahoma Cty

King continues to dominate the league and helped Portland post an expected win over Oklahoma Cty, 102-101. The game was a solid team effort, but King - a favorite for post-season honors - was outstanding, completely overshadowing a great performance by Oklahoma Cty key player, Pollard.

King's coach, Bob, had nothing but praise for his star. "He's just special. It's something just to sit back and watch him do his thing. He certainly brings pride to Portland fans everywhere." Oklahoma Cty coach Bob was concilliatory after the game as well. "When King is doing his thing, you just hope you can keep him under control. We didn't, though Pollard certainly did his part. We really thought we could win this game, so the locker room is pretty quiet right now. We'll just have to turn our focus to next week."

Portland was led by King (14 points, 8 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals), Guerrero (21 points, a steal, a block), Palacios (10 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals). Oklahoma Cty was led by Pollard (11 points, 18 assists, 2 steals), Smith (28 points, 2 steals), Dillard (8 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).

Portland improve to 18-13 and 13-3 at home with the victory. They stay at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. Oklahoma Cty drop to 12-19 with today's defeat. They hold at #3 in the Northwest and hold at #9 overall in the Western Conference.
