CVBL: Portland Pulls Off Upset over Sacramento

A sloppy performance by Sacramento cost them this afternoon against Portland. "You play like that, and you're going to get beaten," said Sacramento coach Bob after the game. "Doesn't matter who you're playing - we proved that today." Poor play all afternoon, especially in clutch situations, proved costly for Sacramento and negated a solid outing by Stanford.

Portland was led by Smith (24 points, a steal), Vanderveer (11 points, 17 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Jackson (21 points, 2 assists, 3 blocks). Sacramento was led by Stanford (14 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Bravo (21 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Davis (15 points, 11 boards, 0 assists).

Portland have been victorious in the past 6 games and stand at 22-9 and 12-4 at home. They hold at #1 in the Northwest and hold at #2 overall in the Western Conference. Sacramento fall to 24-9. They remain at #1 in the Pacific and hold at #1 overall in the Western Conference.
