CVBL: Bob Ecstatic as Washington Upsets Detroit
Detroit collapsed today, allowing Washington to pull off a huge upset. The final score of 105-80 was less surprising than the Detroit performance, one of the worst in the last two seasons by the team. "They look like they're on vacation playing a pickup game," said one of the commentators of the game. "Do they even care that this game matters?" Indeed, Pierre was the only Detroit player that did well.
After the game, Washington coach Bob was as stunned as the reporters. "Well, I didn't really think we had a chance. I figured we'd go in, put up the best opposition we could, and try to come out without getting pounded too badly. But after I saw the way they were playing, I knew we had a chance to pull it off. I told Smith that this was our chance to win the big one, and that he needed to rally the troops. That's exactly what he did, and we were able to come out on top."
Washington was led by Smith (13 points, a steal, 2 blocks), Pearson (18 points, 6 boards, 0 assists, a block), Washington (19 points, 5 boards, 1 assists). Detroit was led by Pierre (12 points, 3 steals), Graham (18 points, a steal, 3 blocks), Hervey (10 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, a steal, a block).
Washington improve to 9-23 and 7-12 at home with this win. They hold at #5 in the Southeast and stay at #14 overall in the Eastern Conference. Detroit halted their winning streak at 9 games, and are now 26-7. They remain at #1 in the Central and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference.
