CVBL: Milwaukee Plays the Spoiler
Milwaukee came away with the shocker today, as Philadelphia self-destructed and handed them the 106-92 win. The outcome was one that even the hardiest of Milwaukee fans would have predicted. "Our game plan was to try to stick around be close enough that maybe we could get lucky," said Milwaukee coach Bob. "I hate to admit it, but we all know that if Philadelphia is on top of its game, there's nothing we can do to beat them. Anyway, the plan worked - we kept things close and were able to capitalize when the game was handed to us."
Philadelphia coach Bob took a lot of heat afterwards, especially when it was learned that he was already preparing for the team's next opponent. "It was a risk, of course, but at some point you've got to weigh the advantages of extra time preparing for Milwaukee against extra time preparing for a real opponent. Anyway, that's not why we lost - we lost from our mental mistakes, not from being underprepared for Milwaukee."
Milwaukee was led by Fiore (31 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, a block), Rose (8 points, 17 assists, 2 steals), Nichols (18 points, 9 boards, 1 assists). Philadelphia was led by Wilson (6 points, 5 boards, 15 assists, a steal), Norman (22 points, 1 assists, a block), Blunt (21 points, 6 boards, 0 assists).
Milwaukee are now 9-23 and 4-12 at home with today's win. They remain at #5 in the Central and stay at #13 overall in the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia stand at 19-13. They hold at #1 in the Atlantic and hold at #2 overall in the Eastern Conference.
