CVBL: Portland Unstoppable

The Toronto coach and players looked bewildered today, as they were steamrolled 113-79 by Portland. "I'm not sure they knew what hit them," said Portland coach Bob. "It didn't really seem like they came out with much of a plan, instead playing like a pickup team. I hate to criticize [Toronto coach] Bob, but I don't think he did his job preparing for this game."

That has been an increasingly frequent impression in Toronto games, leading many supporters to call for the coach's head. The players tend to avoid the matter, but today was the final straw for Toronto star Way. "We couldn't believe what we were hearing in practices. Stuff like, 'just go out and do your best and good things will happen.' He didn't show us any film of Portland, and we really came out today with no idea what to expect. I try to be a team player and all, but when the coach isn't doing his job, we're not going to win."

Portland was led by Virtue (20 points, 6 boards, 1 assists), Williams (15 points, a block), Guerrero (16 points, 3 blocks). Toronto was led by Way (16 points, 0 assists, a steal, 3 blocks), Henderson (10 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 2 blocks), Avila (7 points, 6 assists, a steal).

Portland jump to 19-13 and 14-3 at home. They hold at #2 in the Northwest and remain at #5 overall in the Western Conference. Toronto are now 14-20 after this loss. They hold at #3 in the Atlantic and remain at #13 overall in the Eastern Conference.
