CVBL: Detroit Steamrolls New York 119-83
Anytime Detroit square off with New York, unexpected things happen. Today it was New York head coach Bob who gave Detroit bulletin-board material and ended up eating crow, thanks to some ill-timed comments he made earlier in the day. Two hours before game-time, Bob said that "Detroit shouldn't even show up tonight. We're pumped, we're on a hot streak, and we're just better. We're gonna win so big Detroit might never recover." After the game, the only one from Detroit to speak was head coach David Smith, who said simply, "Scoreboard, baby." Final score: Detroit 119, New York 83.
Detroit was led by Day (17 points, 4 assists, 5 steals), Martin (23 points, 2 assists, a steal, a block), Degraff (20 points, a steal). New York was led by Harrington (14 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a steal), Pearson (7 points, 4 steals), Rowe (14 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
Detroit improve to 20-13 and 9-7 at home. They advance to #3 in the Central and advance to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference. New York stand at 12-22 with today's loss. They remain at #4 in the Atlantic and hold at #14 overall in the Eastern Conference.
