CVBL: No Contest as Detroit Stomps Charlotte
Charlotte suffered another humiliating defeat today, with the 106-76 loss to Detroit increasing calls for coach Bob's dismissal. It's looking to be a tough season for the embattled coach, who simply hasn't brought in the level of talent or coaching required to succeed at this level. Said Detroit star Gilliam after the game, "I can't be sure who to blame, but Charlotte doesn't appear to be headed anywhere. Their coach hasn't brought in the kind of players he needed to, and it really didn't look like they knew what to do out there. Coach always comes up with a solid game plan for us and drills it into us, and I'm pretty sure he'd be able to do a better job than Bob is doing with Charlotte."
Detroit coach David Smith refused to comment on the Charlotte coaching situation. "It's easy to be critical from where we stand, but I don't know enough about that situation to comment. I'm just happy with how we played today. We've got a great group of players and they did a tremendous job."
Detroit was led by Gilliam (17 points, 4 assists, 2 steals, a block), Rausch (15 points, 8 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Shaw (10 points). Charlotte was led by Richards (8 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Dunmore (16 points, a steal, a block), Lloyd (8 points, 9 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks).
Detroit have won their last 8 games and stand at 41-5 and 24-0 at home. They stay at #1 in the Central and remain at #1 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the defeat, Charlotte drop to 14-33. They move down to #4 in the Southeast and fall to #13 overall in the Eastern Conference.
