CVBL: Chicago Knocks Off LA Clippers
An order of bad sushi made all the difference today as Chicago upset the favored LA Clippers 87-84. Mulligan had a huge game for Chicago, spoiling an otherwise solid performance by LA Clippers star Wood in a game that could have post-season implications.
LA Clippers apparantly had dinner together as team last night at a local sushi bar with most unfortunate results. Several team members spent the night in the hospital, while other team members got very little sleep as they rotated turns at their hotel room's toilets. The fatigue was evident from the beginning.
"You feel sorry for them," quipped Chicago coach Bob. "That's a terrible thing to happen to anybody, but we had a job to do. There's no charity in this game." LA Clippers coach Adnan Bislimovic was apologetic to LA Clippers fans. "Obviously we didn't see this coming, and I regret that we couldn't put a better product on the field today. I thought we still had enough to win, but it just wasn't going to happen."
Chicago was led by Mulligan (12 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, a block), Espinoza (10 points, 11 boards, 2 assists, a block), Delaney (15 points, 2 assists, a block). LA Clippers was led by Wood (20 points, 13 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Flake (20 points, 3 assists, a steal), Newton (5 points, a steal).
Chicago ended their slump at 6 games, and improve to 16-32 and 11-10 at home. They remain at #5 in the Central and move up to #13 overall in the Eastern Conference. With the loss, LA Clippers drop to 27-22. They move down to #2 in the Pacific and move down to #8 overall in the Western Conference.
