CVBL: Philadelphia Beats Milwaukee
A solid outing by Gisi led Philadelphia to a 107-101 win over Milwaukee. "Take away Gisi, and we'd have won this thing," said Milwaukee coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put Philadelphia over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
Philadelphia coach Bob was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Gisi do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Gisi will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
Philadelphia was led by Gisi (20 points, 14 boards, 2 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Williams (30 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Ferguson (16 points, 7 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks). Milwaukee was led by Cummings (23 points, 3 blocks), Mackey (21 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, a block), Fiore (12 points, 6 boards, 8 assists).
With today's win, Philadelphia improve to 2-0. They hold at #2 in the Atlantic and stay at #4 overall in the Eastern Conference. With this loss, Milwaukee stand at 0-2 and 0-1 at home. They remain at #4 in the Central and move down to #12 overall in the Eastern Conference.
