CVBL: Atlanta Wins 112-93
Atlanta brushed past an overmatched LA Lakers team today 112-93. Always politically correct, Atlanta coach Bob stated simply "We just managed to do what we needed to get done out there. The players had solid execution all around, and Monnett's effort helped set the pace. LA Lakers is a team we've had success against in the past, which I think gave us a bit more confidence coming in."
LA Lakers coach Andreas Helmle was a little more frank. "We knew going in that we'd need a miracle to beat Atlanta, and we didn't get it. They have better players and a better coach, and did what they were supposed to do out there. I'm just glad the final score wasn't even worse."
Atlanta was led by Monnett (14 points, 3 steals, a block), Laws (24 points, 2 steals), Baker (15 points, a steal, 3 blocks). LA Lakers was led by Snow (20 points, 3 assists, a steal), Carter (17 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Dieterly (5 points, 8 assists, a steal).
Atlanta jump to 2-1 and 1-0 at home with this win. They move up to #2 in the Southeast and advance to #6 overall in the Eastern Conference. LA Lakers drop to 0-3 with the loss. They hold at #5 in the Pacific and stay at #15 overall in the Western Conference.
