CVBL: Brooklyn Beats Memphis 110-109
Memphis failed to make the most of their chances, coming up short 110-109 against Brooklyn in today's contest. "They got a gift, no question in my mind," grumbled Memphis coach Bob. "We outplayed them today, but just couldn't come up with the big plays when we were threatening to score. I just can't wait until the rematch; we'll show them who's really the best."
Brooklyn coach Bob saw things a little differently. "I'm proud of our defensive effort today. They avoided giving up the big plays, and really came through in the key situations. Bob may blame his offense, but they'd have been able to score if they didn't have good opposition."
Brooklyn was led by Hazan (28 points, 9 assists, 3 steals, a block), Duncan (8 points, 15 boards, 1 assists, a steal, a block), Gray (10 points, 9 boards, 2 assists, a steal, a block). Memphis was led by Smith (21 points, 3 steals, a block), Wright (13 points, 6 boards, 4 assists, 4 steals), Gill (14 points, 9 boards, 1 assists, a steal).
With today's win, Brooklyn jump to 2-1 and 2-1 at home. They move up to #3 in the Atlantic and move up to #5 overall in the Eastern Conference. Memphis are now 1-2. They hold at #5 in the Southwest and move down to #13 overall in the Western Conference.
