CVBL: Indiana Coach Gets Upset over Memphis
A walk in the park for Memphis turned into a nightmare, as Indiana pulled off the upset in today's showdown. As usual after a surprise loss, the finger pointing came after the game in the Memphis locker room. "Coach didn't really bother preparing us for this game. We'd already been watching films of our next opponent," said Wilkins.
Bob acknowledged that was true, but said "our next opponent is three times as good as Indiana. Of course we dedicate more time to preparing for them. I'm not faulting Wilkins, but if the rest of the team had played as hard we'd have won this game easily. It was a lack of effort, not preparation."
Indiana coach Coach Hitch could care less whose fault it was. "We're thrilled to get the win. They can make all the excuses they want, but we were the better team out there today."
Indiana was led by Harvey (27 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Mcfadden (14 points, 14 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocks), Ouzts (14 points, 6 boards, 1 assists, 5 blocks). Memphis was led by Wilkins (21 points, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Canul (13 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, 2 blocks), Thomas (13 points, 3 assists, 2 blocks).
With this win, Indiana improve to 2-1 and 2-0 at home. They advance to #1 in the Central and advance to #3 overall in the Eastern Conference. Memphis drop to 2-1. They move down to #3 in the Southwest and fall to #5 overall in the Western Conference.
