CVBL: Detroit Go Up 1-0 in Eastern Conference Finals
Detroit lead the Eastern Conference Finals 1-0 as they beat Washington today 96-88. But the big headlines in the game came from an incident involving Washington players and coach Bob after the game. After the players disappeared into their respective locker rooms, Washington players reportedly attacked coach, throwing him to the ground. Reporters waiting outside heard only pieces of the shouting, but the players were clearly upset by Bob's questionable calls late in the game. Washington star Conard was one of those involved, and was still upset about the situation during the post-game interviews. "I'm not free to comment on what happened," he said. "But I will tell you that I'm working my tail off every game and expect the same effort from my teammates and coaches."
Interviews with Detroit players were a bit less exciting, with Delgado giving the cliche line "we're just happy to come out with the win. Coach Bob and his team gave a good fight, but we were the better team today."
Detroit was led by Delgado (22 points, 15 boards, 0 assists, a block), Newman (20 points, 12 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks), Fox (10 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal). Washington was led by Conard (14 points, 12 boards, 1 assists, a steal, 4 blocks), Maxwell (21 points, 2 assists), Edwards (19 points, a block).
